VALORANT : Agent designer

Role

  • Took ownership of numerous live balance projects, leading them through the entire production pipeline.

    • Shipped balance changes to various characters including Cypher, Chamber, Raze, and Skye.

    • Shipped a large scale balance rework for Cypher which was extremely well received by the community.

  • Wrote up design specification documents and pitched them to stakeholders.

  • Implemented design changes in Unreal Engine.

    • Worked primarily in Unreal’s visual scripting system, building and debugging character abilities.

    • Was also responsible for fixing bugs in the backlog of our pool of characters.

  • Playtested changes daily and iterated based on feedback.

    • Was also responsible for providing feedback on ongoing projects across our design team, leading to changes based on design insights.

  • Collaborated with artists, audio designers, and engineers to ship large-scale character reworks.

  • Wrote player-facing patch notes for my changes.

  • Wrote up paper kits for future agent pitches, and implemented prototypes of these kits in engine.

TEAM

Throughout my time as an intern and as a full time employee, I met so many wonderful people that welcomed me into Riot. Together we enjoyed time both during work and after work playing games and traveling. For VALORANT’s international eSports competitions we traveled together to watch and interact with the community. I had so much fun with these people throughout the last two year, so I wanted to share some photos from our time together below.
